It is apparent to me that we have gripping Family Home Evenings at our house. {Curious about Family Home Evening? Every Monday night our family gets together to to study the gospel of Jesus Christ and to do other activities that strengthen our family and create memories.} This past week we decided to follow the counsel of Elder Bednar to invite the children to share with our family some personal experiences they have had reading the scriptures. We prepped them ahead of time, reminded them throughout the week, and discussed what they might say in one-on-one conversation. We were set.
So the night started out as most do--wiggly kids, lots of "reminders" about behavior for the night, etc. Jack was particularly active and had to be told to hold still several times. As we got into the discussion, though, things settled down a bit and we were going along pretty well. We then looked over at Jack because he was doing such a great job and really feeling the impact of the evening.
This is what we found:
And a few minutes later:
Yep--Gripping!

Love it...Oh how wonderful our FHE would be if our kids feel asleep...but then, it would defeat the purpose wouldn't it?
Glad to hear we're not the only ones who struggle with FHE. Last FHE our boys broke out in an all-out fight about who got to lead the song. The spirit was strong.
